The second floor of this home in Forest Hill North was lacking space for a modern day primary retreat. In order to resolve this, we proposed an expansive addition along the length of the tandem garage on the ground floor. The primary bedroom was relocated to the rear corner of the home in order to create a coherent transition into the new addition which makes room for a walk-in closet with custom built-ins and skylights, a 5-piece ensuite with a steam shower, make-up station and skylight, and a sunroom with a vaulted ceiling, picture windows, and private balcony access. The remainder of the second floor was reconfigured to provide more closet space to the kid’s bedrooms along with a larger linen closet and a new ensuite for one of the bedrooms. On the exterior, the front of the addition utilizes brick to blend seamlessly with the existing facade of the home whilst a new front porch canopy wraps around over the garage. The garage door height was increased and new glass railings were added to the porch. At the rear of the home, the addition is clad with a light grey stucco for a contemporary feel that still ties in with the contrast between brick and stone on the front of the home.
