Earlscourt House Reno
Basement 698 sq.ft. | Ground 731 sq.ft. | Second 534 sq.ft.
In order to increase the functionality of the home, we redesigned the kitchen and bathroom along with enclosing the front porch. The new L-shaped kitchen paired with a pantry wall with a seating island makes the most of the kitchen space while maintaining circulation through the kitchen. The front porch enclosure provides space for a home office with ample daylight along with room to place an exercise bike. The existing bathroom had a cramped layout so we reorganized the fixtures and added a raised floor linen shelf over the existing staircase to maximize space in the bathroom. This helps the room feel larger overall and is enhanced by adding a vaulted ceiling. The front porch enclosure strays away from the traditional style of the home by being a bold, modern addition utilizing black, vertical siding with cedar slat accents. This look provides a precursor to the new laneway suite in the backyard.
