The stairs up to the suite are accessed by the lane to provide privacy to the tenant and homeowner of the main house. The second floor holds a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom suite with an open laundry, kitchen, living, dining, and study space. The galley kitchen with a large island doubles as the dining space. The exterior facade makes a bold statement with black, vertical siding punctuated by cedar slat overhangs which wrap down into the soffit. The black raised seam metal roof and extended overhang reduces the overall massing of the laneway suite in the backyard. The lane facing side features canopy coverage over the entry and garage door along with large windows bringing in lots of natural light to the second floor suite.
