Frequently Asked Questions
Why should we go with your company? What makes you different?
We pride ourselves in creating an easy to understand design and permit acquisition process with transparency throughout. We work with you to turn your vision into reality and get the most out of your property. We provide an honest approach with realistic timelines and no hidden mark-ups in any fees.
What area do you service? Can you do long distance?
We service the GTHA (Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area) and surrounding area by car with in-person site meetings possible. However, we can operate outside that range, anywhere in Ontario, on a virtual basis as our license extends across Ontario.
Will you be able to design the style of building I want?
We primarily focus on modern, contemporary, transitional, and craftsman styles. However, if you show us reference pictures as to what you have in mind, we can work within any style desired as we’re always up for a creative challenge.
Why do we need a BCIN designer? What’s the difference?
As BCIN (Building Code Identification Number) designers, we produce drawings for a renovation/addition or custom build that shows all the required information to the city that the design meets the building code. Our drawings are the basis of all the other consultant’s drawings which we coordinate and bring together to create a cohesive design. We design the interior spaces and exterior form whilst working within the city’s zoning by-laws. An architect can provide all the same services but typically cost a lot more with a longer overall project process. As designers, low-rise residential design is our specialty and we operate efficiently in terms of cost and time.
Do you incorporate sustainable design features?
We can definitely incorporate sustainable design features into the project such as passive design, solar panel hook-ups, electric car charging ports, environmentally friendly products, increased insulation values, and more. We’re also trained in R-2000, Energy Star, Net Zero Ready, and Net Zero Home design.
Why did you choose the name On The Point Design?
We call ourselves On The Point Design as by the time the project is done, we want it to be “On The Point.” We make sure the final result is exactly what you had wanted to achieve in the beginning.
